More often than not, the content ends up being garbage because this is the fitness industry. But because of my reputation, people end up sending me tons of fitness content and asking for my opinion on the information itself along with any claims. As I said, this isn’t what I go out looking for. When I say ‘misinformation,’ I mean information that directly contradicts the overwhelming body of evidence and then being packaged and sold as truth. I’m not talking about differences in preference based on a few cherry-picked studies. When I say ‘misinformation,’ I’m not talking about a difference of opinion. That said, I feel it’s essential to call out misinformation when it occurs because it always harms people, no matter how noble the INTENTIONS are. Typically, the return on investment yields quite a bit of hate and nasty comments. ![]() Despite all appearances, I do not set out to find people to debunk or call out. Over the years, I’ve become known as the guy who debunks fitness dogma and nonsense. ![]()

I just read a great new book in the genre, and I am ready to add that author to this list of favorites. Favorite authors in this last genre include Lipman, Nick Hornsby, and Stephen McCauley. And I am drawn to contemporary novels “where good people reliably find happiness in a somewhat amusing fashion,” to quote Elinor Lipman, one of the best practitioners of the genre. I am also drawn to mystery novels where an able detective navigates a dangerous and corrupt world, living up to his moral code and resolving the case in the end. I am drawn to science fiction and fantasy novels that allow me to escape this world and show me that other worlds are possible. ![]() I find myself drawn to three types of books during the pandemic, as I seek solace and escape. ![]() ![]() ![]() It’s one of the first phone numbers I memorized as a child.
